Diva Dish: Summer Skin~
After the Divas slip into their itty-bitty bikinis and find a spot in the sun, it’s time to bust out the iPod and turn up the tunes. What are the Divas listening to? Here’s a sampling:
“I have everything on my iPod, literally from A to Z. When I say that, I mean I have hard house music to Barbara Mandrell to Patsy Cline to hip-hop, but mostly dance,” Candice Michelle said. “One of my new favorite songs of this month is ‘It’s Gonna Be a Lovely Day.’ It’s a motivational song.”
When fellow Raw Diva Torrie Wilson hits the gym, she’s all about house music.
“On my iPod is tons and tons of house music and techno because it really gets me pumped up to work out. That’s the majority, but I also have a lot of country, R&B, hip-hop and pop,” Torrie said.
SmackDown’s Vickie Guerrero is the proud owner of a Zune, which she loves listening to while working out.
“I have a lot of hip-hop for my running music,” she said. “I also have Justin Timberlake and Mary J. Blige. I have a lot of sleepy music for on the plane to help me relax.”
It’s no secret – when it comes two-thirds of Extreme Exposé, Brooke is a rocker chick, while Kelly Kelly loves rap.
“I’ve got a little bit of Three Days Grace, some Def Leppard. I’m a classic rock type of girl, from AC/DC to Scorpions to Ozzy Osbourne. Also a little bit of modern rock, like Rob Zombie, 30 Seconds to Mars,” Brooke said.
On the other hand, Kelly Kelly said: “I have a lot of rap in my iPod. I love Southern rap – Trina, Trick Daddy. I love Lil’ Kim. My family thinks it’s funny. I’ll start rapping and they’re like, ‘Where did this come from?!’ ”
Kristal likes to blast Rihanna and Christina Aguilera on her iPod, to name a few.
“Also Amy Winehouse – she’s awesome, she has like an old sound to her. She’s British, she’s just awesome!” the SmackDown Diva said.
Maria is proud to say her iPod is loaded with a lot of everything.
“It’s just a crazy iPod that I throw on, and I never know what I’m going to get,” the Raw Diva said. “I just put Nirvana and Pearl Jam on there, actually. I listened to them when I was younger, and I kind of forgot about them, and I was like, ‘Oh wait, this is good! I forgot!’ ”
With a quick click of the iPod wheel, Maria read off a list of her faves: Aerosmith, Rancid, Less Than Jake, Moonbabies, Fergie, Gwen Stefani, No Doubt, Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Timbaland, Nelly Furtado, Justin Timberlake, Prince, Michael Jackson, Coldplay, The Fray, The Cure, Beatles, AFI, Bouncing Souls, Marilyn Manson and White Zombie. (Whew!)
Other Divas who like to listen to little bit of everything? SmackDown’s Michelle McCool and Jillian.
“I have everything from Beastie Boys to Kenny Chesney to Hinder – I’ve got it all,” Michelle said.
“I have a little bit of everything. I don’t really like a lot of the new music out right now,” Jillian told Diva Dish. “Britney hasn’t put out anything in a while, so I haven’t been adding a lot. She’s coming around, though. I love her. She’ll be back.”
Women’s Champion Melina said she enjoys listening to a variety of music, too, from Don’t Fear the Reaper to Fergie to Gwen Stefani to U2 to Aerosmith and even some rap.
“I like everything. I’m not set in one genre, because that’s not the way I feel all the time. I feel a variety of feelings, so my music is what I feel. I could be sad, upset or strong,” Melina explained.
“I have a lot of girl music that’s also strong. Right now, the song that pops into my head, is ‘Stupid Girls’ by Pink. The lyrics say, ‘Outcasts and girls with ambition/That’s what I want to see,’ ” the Women’s Champion said. “I always think about that. That’s what I want to see. I don’t want to be like all the other girls, I want to be me.”
Mickie James admitted she’s in the minority – she doesn’t own an iPod.
“I’m a little behind-the-times in some things. … I had an iPod and I actually lost it. Plus, I was a little late to get the iPod,” the Raw Diva confessed. “But what was on there? I like techno stuff for cardio, old school Snoop Dogg – like the first album out – that was good stuff, Gwen Stefani, country music. It was a mix.”
